Everything about Vagacials

What Is a Vagacial?

A vagacial is a spa treatment that focuses on caring for the skin around the bikini line and outer vaginal area (not the internal genitalia). Think of it as a facial, but for your intimate area. Vagacials aim to address common skin concerns like ingrown hairs, irritation, discolouration, and clogged pores while promoting smooth, healthy skin.

Who Can Benefit from a Vagacial?

Vagacials are ideal for individuals who experience:

  • Ingrown hairs caused by waxing, shaving, or epilation.

  • Hyperpigmentation in the bikini area.

  • Clogged pores or bumps.

  • Dry or uneven skin texture.

  • General irritation or redness from hair removal techniques.

Whether you’re prepping for a special occasion or just want to boost your confidence, a vagacial can be a game-changer.

What Happens During a Vagacial?

Here is what you can typically expect during a vagacial:

  1. Preparation: You’ll be asked to remove your trousers and underwear, and you’ll receive a baby wipe to cleanse the area. The therapist will provide a towel for you to cover yourself while they step out of the room.

  2. Cleansing: The treatment begins with a gentle cleanse using a silicone brush to remove any dirt, sweat, or product build-up.

  3. Steaming: A warm steam is applied to the area for about 7 minutes to open up the pores, soften the skin, and make extractions easier.

  4. Extractions: Ingrown hairs or clogged pores are carefully extracted. This step is optional and can be customised based on your needs and comfort level.

  5. Optional Microdermabrasion: If the client’s skin allows, microdermabrasion may be used to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, promoting a brighter and more even complexion.

  6. Jelly Mask: A soothing jelly mask is applied for 10 minutes to hydrate, calm, and nourish the skin. This mask also helps to reduce redness and irritation.

  7. Mask Removal: The jelly mask is peeled off gently, leaving the skin feeling refreshed.

  8. Serum and Moisturiser: A serum tailored to your skin’s needs is applied, followed by a moisturiser to lock in hydration. Both are applied with a silicone brush to ensure hygiene.

Benefits of a Vagacial

  • Prevents Ingrown Hairs: Regular vagacials can reduce the occurrence of painful and unsightly ingrown hairs.

  • Brightens Skin: Helps fade dark spots and even out skin tone.

  • Promotes Smooth Skin: Exfoliation and hydration leave the area feeling soft and supple.

  • Reduces Irritation: Calms redness and soothes the skin, especially after hair removal.

  • Boosts Confidence: A well-maintained bikini area can make you feel more comfortable and confident.

How Often Should You Get a Vagacial?

For best results, it’s recommended to get a vagacial every 4-6 weeks, depending on your skin type and concerns. Pairing it with your waxing or hair removal schedule can be a convenient option.

Post-Treatment Care Tips

To maintain the benefits of your vagacial:

  • Avoid Tight Clothing: Give your skin some breathing room by wearing loose, breathable fabrics for a day or two after the treatment.

  • Skip Harsh Products: Avoid using scented or exfoliating products in the area for at least 24-48 hours.

  • Hydrate: Keep the skin moisturised with a gentle, unscented product.

  • Avoid Hair Removal: Wait at least 48 hours before waxing or shaving the area.

Is a Vagacial Right for You?

If you’re someone who struggles with ingrown hairs, discolouration, or irritation in the bikini area, a vagacial is definitely worth considering. Even if you don’t have specific concerns, it’s a relaxing way to care for your skin and feel pampered.
